Founded in 1975, North Island College is a community college educating 4,300 full time students, of which 7% are international from 32 different countries.
The College offers 80 associate degrees, diplomas and certificates across faculties of Arts & Science, Business, Arts & Design, Community Care, Tourism & Hospitality and Trades & Technology. Additionally, NIC offers bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, with specializations in Accounting, Marketing & General Management.
NIC is a proud provider of University Transfer Programs with the University of Victoria, Vancouver Island University, Emily Carr University of Art & Design, as well as additional transfer options with University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and many more. Furthermore, there are Dual Admission pathways with Royal Roads, and UNBC as well. Starting at NIC affords students accessibility and an affordable education with the ability to continue their studies at partner institutions for a variety of graduate and undergraduate programs.
There are co-op, internship, mentorship and study abroad opportunities available. With small classes of approximately 20-30 students, students can look forward to a highly interactive supportive learning environment and deep learning experiences.
NIC is situated in a popular tourist destination that is described as a small, safe, welcoming and friendly community that offers much outdoor adventure, including mountain biking, white water paddling, sea kayaking, rock climbing, kite-boarding, hiking, scuba diving and skiing.
The College offers several support services supporting student success including academic English language training for students needing to improve language proficiency prior to entry into an academic program.
